The Kansas City Chiefs are in good spirits after the NFL met with Tyreek Hill over child abuse allegations.
The star wide receiver met with the NFL back in May and according to Yahoo Sports, besides his four-page letter, he also brought evidence to back his story.
Even though the audio of Hill and his fianceè Crystal Espinal arguing over him punching their son was enough to suspend the three-time Pro Bowler, Hill provided text messages and other evidence to support his story. The investigation has also ended according to the Johnson County district attorney and Hill hasn’t been fined since the Chiefs suspended him in April.
His attorney Trey Pettlon said in May that all the allegations are false.
“He categorically denies he has ever ‘punched’ his son in the chest or anywhere on his body, or otherwise touched him in the chest in a mean-spirited manner or as a form of discipline. He also denies that he has ever grabbed his son’s arms and pulled them aside to strike him. There have been occasions when Tyreek has tapped his son gently on the chest with his fingers, while his son was crying and said, ‘man up, buddy’ or ‘don’t cry, my man.’ He has said that in a calm voice trying to redirect him.”
After the meeting, the Chiefs believe it was a “positive” one and that it went well.
The hopes that Hill will be avaliable soon is still up in the air and the Chiefs hope it comes before training camp.
This isn’t the first time Chiefs had to deal with one of their players in a legal situation. Running back Kareem Hunt was cut from the team last November after a video was released showing Hunt kick a woman at a hotel. He is currently signed to the Cleveland Browns and is suspended for the first eight games of the season.
