I think at this point, it’s almost unanimous that we’ve all put the Tom Holland up near the top of our list of favorite web slingers to come across the big screen – no disrespect to Tobey Maguire of course. The fact that he was paired with the juggernaut that is Robert Downey Jr’s Ironman while he became introduced into the Marvel Universe, almost makes the contest seem unfair.
On Monday, Holland was out in New York signing autographs when one fan, unfortunately, got caught up in the crossfire of amped-up diehard Marvel fans vs. fans looking to get an autograph to turnaround and sell online – better known as “Graphers”. Both groups are very dangerous and very aggressive. As a young girl found herself pinned up against the barrier without much in the way of an escape plan.
Without hesitation, the real-life superhero found a way to calm down the situation, and inform the Graphers that if they didn’t calm down he had no hesitations destroying the autographs they were working so hard to secure. It’s a refreshing reminder that the celebrities we so often put up on a pedestal at their core are just people who enjoy what they do, and want their fans to be able to enjoy interactions as safely as possible.
As the world holds it’s breath for July 2nd and Spiderman: Far From Home to hit the theatres, the rest of us can take a little bit of comfort that knowing when push comes to shove, The real-life version of Spider-man is still looking out for the little guy.
