Garrett Grayson
Drafted By: New Orleans Saints
Current Team: None/Free Agent
Garrett Grayson was a 3rd round selection of the New Orleans Saints back in 2015. While he wasn’t drafted to be a starter(laughs), he did have the role of developing while being Drew Brees’ backup.
But after 3 seasons of sparse action, the Saints’ coaching staff cut ties with the Colorado State product. Signaling they just might’ve not seen enough in him to hand him the keys after Brees rides off into the sunset.
Grayson did find some time with the Broncos after being cut, but is now currently a free agent searching for another opportunity.
Sean Mannion
Drafted By: St. Louis Rams/Los Angeles Rams
Current Team: Minnesota Vikings
Mannion was also a 3rd round pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, but this time by the then St. Louis Rams. Mannion has been a career backup since his days in St. Louis, working behind Nick Foles and Case Keenum. To the now Los Angeles Rams, working behind #1 overall pick Jared Goff.
He doesn’t blow you away, but he’s a guy the Rams staff trusted to do his job and be ready when needed.
Mannion just recently signed a deal with the Minnesota Vikings to back up Kirk Cousins after the Rams signed Blake Bortles to be Goff’s new backup.
Bryce Petty
Drafted By: New York Jets
Current Team: None/Free Agent
Bryce Petty was a 4th round selection of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Petty came into the Jets organization during a time in which the Jets were a hot name in the league.
Led by Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Jets caught a lot of attention, attention that the organization hadn’t seen since the Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez days.
Even thought the magic fell short of a playoff appearance in 2015, and fell apart in 2016, it was a time that Jets fans could be proud of their team.
Petty fell in that equation by sitting behind Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith, not receiving any type of playing time in his rookie year.
But that changed in 2016, as he played 6 games, starting 4 of them, while throwing for 809 yards with 3 touchdowns.
7 interceptions were added in as well.
Petty got less playing time the following year as he played 4 games, starting 3 of them, while throwing for 544 yards and 1 touchdown.
3 interceptions were sprinkled in.
Petty was then released last offseason, but then finding more work with the Miami Dolphins. That time amounted to nothing though, as it led to another release.
Petty wasn’t good in his 10 games as a Jet, in fact he was pretty uninspiring.
No word on what Petty’s next move is, but with the way he played, I doubt he’s going to find a significant role anymore in the NFL.
