It’s safe to say that Charles Barkley has a respected opinion in the basketball world.
The NBA Hall of Famer was on ESPN’s Get Up! this morning and the crew asked for Barkley’s opinion whether Zion Williamson is overweight.
There was a picture of that has now gone viral of Zion Williamson sitting out on the sideline supporting his teammates during Summer League. A lot of people were saying the #1 pick out of Duke has gained some weight since the college season. Barkley reminded us this morning that when he came to the NBA out of Auburn he was about 300 pounds at 6’6”.
Charles went on to say that he doesn’t think Zion is fat but thinks there’s no way he can play at his current weight of 280 pounds; that would put too much pressure on his knees.
With the help of an NBA training staff behind him Zion should have no problem finding the right playing weight for him. It also helps that Charles Barkley aka “The Round Mound of Rebound” believes in him. If anyone knows about playing at a heavy weight while still being elite it’s him.
