In a case so bizarre that you know it had to come from Florida, a Bradenton, Florida man known by the alias “murder’ pleaded guilty to murder charges stemming from a 2016 home invasion.
According to the Miami Herald on May 4, 2016 Courtney Lawrence and four other suspects stormed into a house in Bradenton and demanded money from the residents. The residents and the suspects exchanged gunfire which left Lawrence and one of his associates with injuries. The associate later died from his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Lawrence, who’s nickname is “Murder” was quickly identified at the Manatee Memorial Hospital after being treated for injuries to his shoulder and buttocks.
On Monday Lawrence pleaded guilty to second-degree felony murder with a firearm, attempted murder with a firearm, armed burglary of a dwelling with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 40 years in a Florida prison. He will have serve at least 10 years.
