The Los Angeles Clippers are still in the media, and rightfully so, after landing Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the most surprising, late hour blockbuster free agency deal of the offseason.
Fans and several members of sports media were absolutely shocked when news broke that after days of deliberation, Kawhi had chosen to sign with the Clippers over the Lakers and 2019 NBA champion Raptors. Most media outlets were reporting that Leonard signing with the Clippers was officially off the table and the Lakers or Raptors were the two finalists.
Just as surprising as Kawhi’s decision to sign with the Clippers was the news that Paul George would be traded from OKC to LA to join him. I don’t know of a situation in which a front office was able to pull off such a monumental deal with huge championship implications in such a fashion.
We aren’t sure who is most responsible for making everything come together so smoothly but Jerry West wants us all to know it wasn’t him. The NBA legend shared with TMZ that he is more than proud of what was accomplished in the offseason but isn’t on the championship or bust bandwagon just yet.
