Nicki Minaj went public with her new boyfriend Kenneth Petty last year and recently featured him in the music video for her new hit single “Megatron.” Minaj now took to Queen Radio to address the critics who’ve bashed her for dating him. Petty was convicted in 1994 for the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Petty went on to go to prison for almost four years for this and is registered as a level two sex offender in New York. On Queen Radio, Minaj said “When a person is with a n**** that loved them before they had a dime in their pocket?”
“How do you not understand that? How do you not understand happiness versus clout? How f***ing dare you talk about lowering standards?”
Petty was 21-years-old and Minaj was 16 when they first got together and that’s under the age of consent in NY. Minaj went on to say that money can’t buy her happiness or good sex. The rape case wasn’t the only legal issue for Petty though. He’s had many problems over the years which include doing seven years in prison for manslaughter for being involved in the shooting of a man. It seems like men with this kind of resume are the popular choice these days.
