Roger Saffold On If The Titans Will Be Effective Without Taylor Lewan (Video)

The Titans hit the practice field for day 1 of training camp.

In the steamy Tennessee heat, I was there and some things stood out to me.

Here’s 3 things noticed the most from Titans training camp day 1.

1. Taylor Lewan Runs With 2nd Team

Taylor Lewan ran a good bit of practice with the second team offense, allowing Dennis Kelly to step up and run with the first team. While in any ordinary practice setting, you’d see Lewan running with the first team with no hesitation.

But it isn’t normal this time around.

Lewan is facing a 4 game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. He’ll surely keep up the trend of running with the 2nd team throughout camp, to keep Dennis Kelly used to the first team offense as soon as possible.

2. Rashaan Evans Gets Majority of First Team Snaps

Rashaan Evans is gearing up for his 2nd season with the Titans, but healthy this time.

Evans missed a good deal of training camp and some game time in his rookie year. Which put him at a clear disadvantage to produce in his first year in the league.

Now he’s healthy and ready to snatch a starting ILB spot alongside Jayon Brown.

Look out for the 2nd year Alabama product to make plays early and throughout this upcoming season.

3. AJ Brown & Derrick Henry Go Down With Injury, Don’t Return

AJ Brown is expected to have a big role on this 2019 Titans football team, but he can’t do that if he isn’t healthy. Brown went down with an undisclosed injury during the individual period and didn’t return.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said he wasn’t to concerned with the injury to Brown, calling him day to day. We’ll see if he suits up tomorrow or if the team will elect to play it safe.

Derrick Henry also went down with an undisclosed during the individual period. Vrabel also listed him as day to day.

Quote of The Day

The Quote of the Day comes from Roger Saffold. In reference if the Titans will be effective without Taylor Lewan.
