Oklahoma City is left superstar-less going into the 2020 NBA season. Very foreign stance for the organization, considering they’ve had some of the biggest stars since their 2008 debut in the league. Kawhi Leonard taking Paul George to LA was Oklahoma City’s first L. Then their captain says farewell and heads to Houston.
Interesting move for Russ, teaming up with his ex-teammate. Many people thought OKC took a loss in their 2012 trade, when Houston acquired James Harden. He later went on to become the league mvp and lead the Rockets to the playoffs. Its safe to say Sam Presti is under a severe level of scrutiny after giving Houston another superstar, but getting out of that cap-sucking contract may have been what the Thunder organization needed. They gave it a run with some world class athletes and it didn’t happen, good thing they racked up on draft picks this year in the off-season.
