The Milwaukee Bucks are making sure they keep their MVP happy.
Per Shams Charania, the Bucks decided to add another Antetokounmpo to their roster. Thanasis, Giannis’ older brother, signed a two-year deal with the team today.
Thanasis was actually drafted by the New York Knicks in 2014 as their 51st pick. He went into the Summer League and had only 3 points and 1.8 rebounds in five games. He was sent to the Westchester Knicks and improved with 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. He was also named 2015 NBA D-League All Defensive Second Team.
In July 2015, he was back on the Knicks, participated in the Summer League and averaged 6.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 blocks per game. He was signed that August but after three preseason games, he was cut.
Then in January 2016, Knicks gave him a 10 day contract and his NBA debut was against the Phoeniz Suns. After the 10 days, the Knicks did not renew the contract.
Since, he’s been playing overseas and won two Greek Basket League championships (2018, 2019).
Their other brother, Kostas, is also in the NBA and plays for the Dallas Mavericks.
