Ryan Hollins played for nine teams from 2006-2016 and had a decent career for himself. He’s been an analyst on ESPN recently, most notably on First Take, and has had some outrageous takes for sure. This has resulted in a petition on Change.org surfacing seeking signatures to remove him from all ESPN programming networks.
A few of the hot takes are saying Giannis Antetokounmpo and that he’d take Rajon Rondo over Chris Paul right now. Takes like these have racked up 1,993 signatures with the current goal being 2,500.
“Over the past year, former NBA bench-warmer Ryan Hollins has appeared on several episodes of ESPN’s popular morning program First Take. While the show’s headliners, Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman, seem to have no problem “debating” with Hollins about topics like NBA contracts, championship contenders, and player expectations for the upcoming season – we, the fans, are fed up with hearing Hollins’ voice.
This is because Ryan Hollins’ ability to speak coherently, debate reasonably, and argue valid points is almost as bad as his ability to play professional basketball. The career 3.7 PPG and 2 RPG seven-footer has proven that his only real skill is to make outrageous claims over national airwaves and stand by them out of sheer ignorance when he is proven wrong. Some of his hottest takes to date include: 2018-2019 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is “overrated”, LeBron James is not the clear-cut leader of the LA Lakers, and the bat-shit crazy idea that the ’18-19 Golden State Warriors would “run laps” around Michael Jordan’s ’96 Bulls team.”
The petition’s description added that users on YouTube are also disliking every video he appears on. It calls for him being banned and ESPN paying someone else. They definitely didn’t hold back from calling for Hollins head. Max Kellerman has looked frustrated while on the air with Hollins as well.
