This past Sunday the series finale of Power hit the airwaves. The show was premiered with nearly 1.47 million viewers and 2.3 million watched the replay.
But if you watched the premiere, then you heard about why fans are in an uproar. Creator and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson changed the show’s theme song. No longer do you here Joe’s soulful voice singing It’s a big rich town…. Instead, you hear another familiar voice, Trey Songz.
Maybe Trey’s version will take time to grow on people, but after 5 seasons of hearing the original, its hard for fans to get with the new version. So much so, that 50 has even thought about changing it back.
What would it take to change it back? Glad you asked. A network veteran said, “If they changed the theme, they would have to re-edit and possibly re-shoot the entire opening sequence.” They went on to say, “It would take weeks to do.”
So, it seems we have at least a couple more weeks of the Trey Songz version.
