Anthony Davis finally getting traded to the Lakers this summer stamped the team as automatic NBA title contenders as they currently have the talent to win it all with him, LeBron James, Danny, Green, DeMarcus Cousins, and more. LA tried to pursue the ultimate NBA free agency prize in Kawhi Leonard but failed to do so as the other hometown Clippers made that splash.
James had tried to give his No. 23 to Davis so he could keep that number but that didn’t happen as Davis settled for No. 3. The original plan was for Davis to get the No. 23 and James to go back to the No. 6 he wore in Miami. AD appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night and explained by him getting No. 23 didn’t happen.
AD said that Nike was responsible for not letting the switch happen. Money was the main reason for the rejection. AD decided on No. 3 because he wore that in elementary school and that was the first jersey number he ever had. AD didn’t mind the jersey move not happening though as he jokingly said he goes on NBA 2k and puts in the number on his player.
