The folks in New York/New Jersey seem to miss Odell Beckham, Jr.
At least it feels that way with how much the NY/NJ area media continues to talk about the new Cleveland Browns wide receiver.
Beckham, of course, was traded this past off season in a blockbuster trade to the Browns in a divorce between him and the Giants that seemed a long time coming.
According to Boomer Esiason, of Boomer & Gio, Beckham mailed it in after getting his $21 million and playing in 12 games during the 2018 NFL season.
Esiason telling NJ.com,
“Odell took himself off the field last year for four games after making $19 million. That takes a lot of chestnuts.”
Beckham missed the final four games last season with a leg injury and it was later revealed that the he and the Giants weren’t really on the same page as their relationship continued to deteriorate.
Esiason saying further on if he bought Beckham’s injury,
“I don’t know. He had 1,000 yards and (six) touchdowns or something. ‘OK, I’m good. As long as I get my 1,000-yard season.’”
Considering Beckham’s passion for the game and his outstanding production when with the Giants, (especially with Eli Manning as QB), it would be hard to imagine Beckham faking injury.
Nonetheless, its time for both parties to move on as Beckham has had plenty to say about his time with the Giants and vice versa.
Here’s to hoping that with a new season Beckham and the Giants can each focus on their own situation.
