Dubbed “The Towering Inferno” 21-year-old southpaw Sebastian Alexander Fundora was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, but now resides in the boxing-friendly Coachella, California.
Fundora is a young exciting prospect with an unblemished record of 19-0, with 13 knockouts. A boxer who stands out for physical reasons, Fundora is 6’6” tall, the same height as Anthony Joshua and Tom Schwarz. The difference: Joshua and Schwarz are heavyweight fighters, Sebastian Fundora fights at 154. The average super welterweight stand at about 5’10, meaning Fundora is, on average, 8 inches taller than his opponents.
And while Fundora may look awkward at first glance, he is anything but. Fundora has been piling through opponents with his display of not only strength but agility and generally sound boxing ability. With a height of 6’6, common knowledge would tell you that Fundora uses his length to beat fighters from a distance, but in reality, the towering inferno likes to fight on the inside, leaning his huge body on this opponents to wear them down and using his height as leverage for his deadly uppercuts while on the inside.
His last fight took place in June 2019, versus then unbeaten Hector Manuel Zepeda as a showcase of two prospects that headlined the televised the ShoBox: The New Generation card. Fundora walked Zepeda down beautifully, forcing Zepeda’s corner to stop the fight after the 4th round in pure frustration.
Prior to this, Fundora fought in February 2019, knocking out the previously unbeaten Donnie Marshall in the third round.
Fundora has faced unbeaten prospect after unbeaten prospect and puts them down one-by-one.
And he may not be done growing.
Fundora said everyone wanted him to play basketball, but he loves boxing and always just wanted to be at the gym.
Fundora is exciting to watch, unique and really has the ability to make a name for himself in the sport of boxing should he continue along this path. His next fight will take place August 31, 2019 versus Jamontay Clark (14-1) at the Minneapolis Armory.
