A man was shot and killed by his older sister last Friday afternoon. Police did not release any names however, family members identified the deceased as 22-year-old Portland State basketball and football player Deante Strickland. Strickland was shot along with his aunt and grandmother were also shot by his sister Tamena but, are expected to survive.
Details have yet to emerge as to why the shooting took place but, Damian Strickland the uncle of Deante and Tamena told KATU News in Portland that the three were shot by Tamena who then fled after the shooting.
Few details are available but, authorities believe the shooting occurred in the house where all of the victims were. After being shot Strickland sought help from contractors working across the street. The contractors were giving him CPR as he was saying
My sister shot me…. I don’t want to die
Deante who just finished his senior season at Portland State averaged 7 points and 2 rebounds was said to be a proud Portland native and a special teammate. The Portland legend earned All-Stat honors in high school and was a member of the state championship football teams his junior and senior years. The murder has left the basketball and football teams saddened.
Tamena later turned her self in and was arrested at the precinct.
