Michael Avenatti is back with more “evidence” that would put Duke’s basketball program in some serious trouble.
Avenatti, who was arrested and charged with trying to extort Nike in March, says Nike discussed paying $35,000 to Zion for him to attend Duke University.
Now these are some very serious claims, claims that if true could put Duke’s basketball program into purgatory.
Nike would be in very serious trouble too, but they’re not responding to any of this information.
“Nike will not respond to the allegations of an individual facing federal charges of fraud and extortion,” Nike said in a statement. “Nike will continue its cooperation with the government’s investigation into grassroots basketball and the related extortion case.”
But this is Michael Avenatti we’re talking about. His stance as Stormy Daniels’ lawyer in her battle against Donald Trump was bad enough. He’s now trying to take down Nike and particularly Duke for some unknown reason.
But the thought of Avenatti potentially knowing something keeps pegging at my brain. These types of claims are very very serious. You’d have to have some cold, hard evidence to keep putting this information out there.
But then again, this is Michael Avenatti.
Who knows if Avenatti is even telling the truth, but if he is, it would be a major bombshell in college basketball.
