Mike Vrabel Speaks on If There is a Chance Ryan Tannehill Could Start Over Marcus Mariota in Week 1 After Titans’ 1st Team Offense Did Not Play Well Against Steelers (Video)

On a rainy Sunday night, the Tennessee Titans saw their offense perform like the characteristics of the rain that fell.

Depressing and sloppy.

The Titans’ offense played a bad brand of football, simple as that. The offensive line for starters, struggled all night. It started off with Ben Jones and Roger Saffold poorly handle a twist by Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt. It led to a sack and a safety.

2-0 Steelers.

Nothing positive happened the rest of the time Marcus Mariota was behind center. Taking hits and not nearly getting enough time to throw the football. After Mariota was sacked for a safety in the end zone, Mike Vrabel had seen enough.

Before risking any type of injury to Mariota, he was yanked for Ryan Tannehill. Who although had some success of his own, was beaten and bruised behind the Titans’ 1st team offensive line as well.

But before I go on, NO, there’s still no QB competition. So give it up you seekers of conflict and chaos.

Now back on to Marcus’ night, I imagine Mike Vrabel didn’t want Mariota to only end up with 2 series of play.

Marcus Mariota wasn’t the only QB that was eating turf tonight. Ryan Tannehill came in and ended up getting popped pretty good by Cam Heyward in the 2nd quarter.

As the game wore down and we saw Logan Woodside lead the Titans down the field in a way the 1st and 2nd team could only dream of, an important reminder was dealt to us.

You can have the QB, the flashy WR, but if you want your offense to get going on the field, you need your offensive line to be at the top of their game.

If that can’t be done, you’re going to see Marcus Mariota on the ground A LOT. Eating turf and watching as the punt team comes on time and time again.

Who in the world wants to see that?

It’s expected in a preseason game sure, but in games when it counts? That’s basically torture.

Mike Vrabel now has an even larger problem than he realized. Kevin Pamphile has looked underwhelming, Ben Jones hasn’t stood out, and the expensive free agent signing Roger Saffold has gotten bulldozed by a 2nd string defensive lineman.

If those 3 can’t get it together, it’s going to be a long season for the Tennessee Titans.

Who knows, 1 or more of those 3 could be a major part of a offensive line makeover.

Flip the page to see what Marcus Mariota thought about the offensive line last night.

AND Marcus’ thoughts on Andrew Luck’s retirement, with a little story that involves the 2 quarterbacks.
