This is not the scenario that Team USA was hoping for.
For the first in nearly 13 years Team USA basketball has lost an international competition.
Team USA had its 78-game international win streak snapped (the longest in program history) after blowing a double-digit lead to Team Australia on Saturday morning in an exhibition match-up.
San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills scored 30 points, including 10 straight in the fourth quarter, to give the Boomers a 98-94 win.
This was the first time that Team Australia has ever defeated the Americans.
Kemba Walker led Team USA with 22 points.
Its a disappointing loss, even with most of the top American players sitting out currently.
Much has been made about the biggest NBA stars sitting out this summer as most stars have used the upcoming NBA season as the main reason for missing this summer’s international competition.
Twitter, of course, reacted to the loss, and was not happy about it.
