Last week, it was announced that Stephen Curry would be sponsoring Howard University’s men’s and women’s gold programs and today will make it official. Curry’s contributions will be lasting for six years as school Athletic Director Kery D. Davis calls this move “one of the most generous gifts” in the school’s history.
The gold programs plan to be ready to go for the 2020-2021 academic year. Curry really began to take an interest in this move after meeting with Howard senior and golfer Otis Ferguson IV during while visiting Howard. Curry originally sent a seven-figure donation which helped launch these programs.
Curry is also an active golfer in the NBA offseason so his love for that sport continues to grow. It’s great to see someone of his position use his power to help HBCU programs that have been needing it the most.
