In May, ‘The Chi‘ star and former ‘Straight Outta Compton‘ actor Jason Mitchell was booted off The Chi after sexual harassment allegations surfaced involving Tiffany Boone. Boone plays the role of Jerrika in The Chi. Boone was also coincidentally in Straight Outta Compton as well.
Showtime’s President of Entertainment Gary Levine now doesn’t have any plans to bring Mitchell back long term, according to Variety. He says that Mitchell will be killed off in season three. Mitchell plays the role of Brandon Johnson in the series. Levine believes that Mitchell didn’t get a proper ending in season two.
“There is a lot of great life in The Chi, and there’s also death in The Chi, and that’s how we’ll be dealing with it,” said Levine.
The sexual harassment claims got to a point where Boone’s fiance and actor Marque Richardson, had to step in when she was in scenes with Mitchell. This resulted in Boone telling show producers, Fox 21, that she couldn’t work with him at all. Mitchell has since been dropped by his agent and his upcoming lead role in Netflix’s western film, Desperado. Season three of The Chi was renewed on April 30.
