CBS Sports No. 1 NFL analyst Tony Romo is one of the hottest names in the sports industry today.
Romo, who is in the final year of his three-year contract with CBS, could become television’s most sought after sports analyst after this NFL season concludes.
As part of CBS’s number one NFL commentary team, along with Jim Nantz, Romo has become the most popular, and by most accounts the best analyst in the game today.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback addressed his contract situation as talks have reportedly stalled between him and the network.
This according to Front Office Sports.
Romo addressing his contract situation with CBS says,
“I love football. I love working for CBS. I love the fact that I get to be an analyst doing football games.”
Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that Romo makes $4 million currently with CBS and that Romo is reportedly seeking $10 million a year with his new contract.
That would eclipse folks like Troy Aikman who make $7.5 million a season for Fox Sports, and even John Madden who at the height of his career made $8 million a season.
If Romo is not extended by CBS a bidding war is sure to commence for Romo’s services with the likes of ESPN and Fox looking to poach Romo from the network.
Regardless, Romo will see a large payday for his services whether it be from CBS or from somewhere else.
Twitter had some of their own reactions to the news.
