The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott appear to have ended contract negotiations for now.
While the Cowboys and Prescott would like to have a long-term deal finished prior to Sunday afternoon’s game against the New York Giants it is becoming increasingly unlikely that that will happen.
This according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Prescott though doesn’t appear to be concerned about the prospects of getting that extension thanks to financial security he has with respect to paid endorsements and insurance.
Schefter reports that Prescott has over $50 million in endorsements and insurance that allows the quarterback to take his time in negotiations.
Prescott has loss of value and disability insurance policies along with endorsements such as Pepsi and Dannon that total over $50 million.
The quarterback is entering into his 4th season and is seeking a long-term deal in excess of $30 million per season.
Prescott has already seen teammates Ezekiel Elliott, DeMarcus Lawrence and others get paid, and now the quarterback patiently awaits his turn.
For now Prescott will play on his base salary of a little over $2 million this season.
Prescott has 32 wins over his first 3 seasons in the NFL.
