The Orlando Magic made a surprising move on Monday.
The team announced that they have exercised the fourth-year option on guard Markelle Fultz.
That option, which goes through the 2020-21 season, will be for $12.3 million.
Fultz, the former number one overall pick back in 2017, has only played in 33 career games.
The former Philadelphia 76er has dealt with injuries and shooting issues that have derailed his career.
While sporadic footage surfaces from time to time showing his jump shot potentially improving, questions still remain if Fultz can ever be the player that was drafted number one overall.
Twitter had a mixed reaction to the news.
