New York Giants fans booed their team most of the game Sunday as the Giants got whooped by the Buffalo Bills and after the game, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur couldn’t confirm if Eli Manning was going to start Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I’m not ready to discuss that,” Shurmur said when asked about who will start Week 3.
Well today, it was confirmed that Daniel Jones will be the starting QB.
In the first two weeks of this season, Manning has 556 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. However, Sterling Shepard and Cody Latimer are injured, Golden Tate is suspended and, oh yes, Odell Beckham Jr. plays for the Cleveland Browns who just butchered the New York Jets last night with 161 receiving yards and a touchdown.
“I’ve lost enough games here, so to leave here with a win is a good feeling,” Beckham said after last night’s win — a definite shot towards the NY Giants.
Overall, a lot needs to be fixed for the Giants besides the QB spot: secondary, pass rush and receivers. For once, the offensive line is actually good. Saquon Barkley is the best thing going for the Giants but he’s a running back and no disrespect but a career for RBs in the NFL are short-lived. So the Giants cannot and SHOULD not put the wear-and-tear on Barkley. With him being the best running back in the game, they should be making him HAPPY – by any means necessary!
Jones completed 29 of 34 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns but he was up against defense players who didn’t make the 53-man roster. I guess we will see next week if Jones is the real deal.
Was Sunday’s game the last game we’ll see Manning play? Is it time for other Giants pieces to be benched .. like in the front office? Can “Daniel-son” save Big Blue?
