The track and field world caught a clip of ESPN’s ax Kellerman again saying something dumb.
On an episode of First Take while discussing Usain Bolt being voted as the most electric athlete in history, Max says it can’t be him because track is
“Only a sport by a very broad definition because it really only tests your fast twitchies. Like how fast can you go from point a to point b. Well that’s an athletic ability but it’s only one specific kind. We don’t know his dexterity, we don’t know his ability to think on the fly etc, which is why track and field stars are usually failed football and basketball players. The best athletes, because that’s where the money is, go into basketball and football and the others fall down to track and field.”
He also says that guys go to track because they aren’t tough enough for football and can’t think on the fly.
Max isn’t new to making wild takes but this one was complete disrespect. A lot of track stars go to track because they are just better and faster at that. It’s not that they aren’t smart enough or not tough enough. They are simply just better.
Max is entitled to his opinion on who he thinks is the most electric athlete ever, but to say it can’t be Usain Bolt is ignorant. The Olympics changed the last event from the mens 4×400 to the men’s 4×100 because Usain Bolt was running. The excitement Usain brought to track is unmatched.
