Bullying continues to be a problem in schools all around the world. People can really be the most cruel in middle school and high school. This was the case for Michael Todd, a freshman at Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School in Memphis.
Todd was bullied every single day because he wore the exact same clothes to school. He cited the reason for that being that his mom can’t buy him more clothes because he grows too fast. Two football players at the school, Kristopher Graham and Antwan Garrett, took the initiative to help make a difference in Todd’s life in the midst of the bullying happening.
Graham said when he saw people laugh and bully Todd, he felt that he needed to do something. From that point, he went home and gathered clothes and shoes for Todd. He then texted Garrett to help him with giving out the clothes. They ended up bringing everything to school the next day and Todd was shocked at what he saw happening. Graham and Garrett noticed that Todd wasn’t smiling but the clothes he was about to get would completely change that.
Graham told Todd how they were in the same period and apologized for laughing at him before when he was getting bullied. He wanted to make it up to Todd. When he received the gifts from Graham and Garrett, he said it was the best day of his life and that the two football players were the best guys ever.
Todd said that this was the first time he had ever gotten a gift. It was definitely an emotional moment for all three boys. Salute to Graham and Garrett for helping someone who was going through a very tough time in life. Bullying should never be tolerated and everyone should stand up to it.
