The Chargers suffered an embarrassing loss on Sunday night to a 1-4 Steelers team lead by a third-string quarterback, but perhaps more embarrassing than that was the Chargers home stadium being taken over by Steelers fans.
Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles was filled with mostly Steelers fans giving the road team the advantage, but to make things even worse, the stadium started playing the Steelers theme song. Melvin Gordon was not happy about this.
It was crazy. They started playing their theme music. I don’t know what we were doing — that little soundtrack, what they do on their home games. I don’t know why we played that. I don’t know what that was. Don’t do that at our own stadium … It already felt like it was their stadium … I don’t understand that.”
The Chargers are already at a disadvantage playing in a soccer stadium with minimal fan interest; now even their own stadium is making things rough for them.
