Be careful what you put on social media. That is a lesson that MLB umpire Rob Drake is about to learn the hard way.
In a since-deleted tweet on Tuesday, Drake said that he planned to buy an AR-15 rifle because “if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020.”
Another tweet earlier in the night concerned the House of Representatives’ impeachment proceedings with President Donald Trump.
The tweet said: “You can’t do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?”
Drake deactivated his Twitter account on Wednesday.
According to ESPN, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred stated on Wednesday that he is looking into Drake’s tweets. Joe West, the president of the Major League Baseball Umpires Association, declined comment.
Drake 50, is a veteran umpire, making his debut in 1999 and becoming a fulltime umpire in 2010, working several postseasons and an All-Star game in 2013.
