ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Los Angeles Rams are trading two-time Pro Bowler CB Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens. In return the Rams will receive linebacker Kenny Young and a 5th round pick in the 2020 draft.
The trade comes as a surprise to some people. The Rams represented the NFC in the Super Bowl last year losing to the Patriots. They had high hopes this season but are currently on a 3 game losing streak. The Rams other starting CB Aqib Talib, is currently on IR for fractured ribs. Already hurting at the position, why would the Rams make this trade now? Are the Rams deciding the blow this up already or was this strictly a cap move for a younger player?
The Ravens just acquired the 13th ranked corner in the league according to Pro Football Focus. Marcus Peters will be joining a secondary with Marlon Humphrey and Earl Thomas, which looks like a nice group on paper. Unless the Ravens offer a new contract Peters will be a free agent at the end of the season.
