It’s not everyday an NBA player turns down an $80 million contract offer.
Well that’s exactly what Boston Celtics F Jaylen Brown did recently according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Brown, 22, turned down a $20 million per year contract from the Celtics in order to pursue a bigger offer.
The fourth year player is betting on himself to have a big season as he and Jayson Tatum lead the Celtics young nucleus now that Kyrie Irving is off to Brooklyn.
The former no. 3 from 2016 out of California will at some point be looking to get a max deal if he has a great 2019-20 season.
Brown, who will turn 23 next week, averaged 13 points and 4.2 rebounds last season.
Twitter debated if Brown made the right decision as he bets on himself this season going forward for the Celtics.
