The doctor who stopped the Diaz-Masdival fight early, has reported that he’s been receiving death threats over his decision.
Dr. Nitin K. Sethi has said that he’s received death threats and a couple other forms of negativity after his decision this past Saturday night.
Dr. Nitin K. Sethi said that he’s received death threats and been harassed online and at his business since ruling that the cut above Nate Diaz’s right eye was enough to call his fight against Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 244.
I certainly don’t support the death threat that fans have thrown towards Sethi’s way. Even though I’ve seen Diaz fight through way worse, specifically his gory fight with Conor McGregor, a cut of that size above the eye will always bring some concern.
I think the doctor made the right call, because who knows what can happen to that eye with the future punches and kicks it might receive?
It’s about making sure the fighter can go on and protect himself.
I’m sure Diaz though he could, but him eating those shots early on in the fight surely didn’t help his cause.
