Kurt Suzuki created quite the stir on Monday during the World Series Champion Washington Nationals visit to the White House.
Suzuki donned a red “MAGA” hat and let President Trump recreate a Titanic scene with him. Many on social media voiced their displeasure with Suzuki for putting on the cap as he was barraged with criticism.
Suzuki responded to the criticism in a text to USA Today.
Everybody makes everything political. It was about our team winning the World Series.
That was the president,” he said. “Just trying to have some fun.”
Yes, how could Suzuki have known that wearing a hat that has become synonymous with a particular political party the past three years would be taken as political.
