We may have witness one of the most brutal assaults on the field in NFL history last night. We have seen fights and all out brawls on the field before, but we have never seen a player take another players helmet off and swing it as a weapon like what was nationally televised on Thursday night football.
There were players and former players chiming in from J.J. Watt, Ryan Clark, Lance Briggs about how bad of a look this looks upon Myles Garrett.
You can expect the NFL who has been practicing player safety to hand down a swift and hefty suspension and fine upon Myles Garrett.
What we haven’t seen was many, if any NFL players defending the actions of Myles Garrett. This morning that notion changed when what has been deleted since, star receiver Michael Thomas of the Saints defend the erroneous actions of Myles Garrett.
Michael Thomas tweeted shortly moments ago,
“Self Defense how you going to try and take someone’s helmet off then try to run up when it’s 2 people already holding back. Y’all and this media stuff funny make sure you don’t play with me cause I’m not going for none it either”
Thomas was probably reprimanded by someone to take down the tweet ASAP and did so prompting another tweet,
stating,
“Know who you running up on”
What’s interesting is Thomas completely ignored Garrett grabbing the helmet and using it as a weapon, which could have cause bodily harm on nationally tv.
The hit could have potentially taken a life on a field but all Thomas wants to do is allude to the media taking the wrong approach.
In no way are people condoning Mason’s actions whatsoever, which some think he may have started the incident by allegedly trying to take off Garrett’s helmet, but let’s make one thing clear and precise Mason trying to take off Garrett’s helmet does not give him the green light to try and potentially cause bodily harm on the field.
Thomas notably has tweeted his disguised hate for the Steelers in the past, mentioning the AB saga in Pittsburgh as well as begging AB to team up with him in New Orleans.
