Summer Walker has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons since she released her debut album, ‘Over It‘ in September. She’s been on social media announcing her breakup with boyfriend/producer London on Da Track and then getting back with him on stage at her show a day later, saying she doesn’t like showering and washes in a bowl instead, and not showing fans love at all at her meet and greets.
Yesterday, Walker addressed the meet and greet situation by saying she compliments fans and thanks them but doesn’t like things like hugging because she’s an empath and doesn’t like transferring energy like that. She thinks that hugging will literally kill her. Today, it got worse as she announced that the rest of her tour is canceled.
Walker started off by saying she appreciates everyone who streams her music and comes to her shows but she had to cancel the tour because it “doesn’t coexist with her social anxiety and introverted personality.” She hopes people understand and respect her decision. She will continue to make music and do some shows but just can’t finish the rest of the tour.
Walker definitely sounds like she’s in the wrong industry. Anxiety is understandably at times but being an introvert doesn’t get a pass. You earn fans with your music and are the one booking meet and greets at shows. These are obligations that have to be fulfilled. She’s one of the best out in R&B for sure and she hasn’t been treating fans right. Hopefully at this point, she can regroup, clear her mind, and maybe go on tour in 2020.
