A Texas substitute teacher was arrested this past Friday November 11,2019, for felonious assault on a minor at the Hays Consolidated School District .
The incident which occurred during a Spanish class was captured on video, shows the substitute teacher Tiffani Lankford punch out and stomp on the students head numerous times.
It is unknown what caused this assault to escalate out of control but there is no place in the teaching workforce for these types of actions to take place.
According to a school district spokesman,
“It is unconscionable what this adult did to one of our students,” Tim Savoy, a district spokesman, told CNN in a statement
In addition a family attorney stated,
the girl has special needs and suffers from seizures. She was treated for severe injuries after the attack
After this erroneous attack Texas Governor chimed in,
Conduct like this won’t be tolerated in Texas classrooms,” the governor said in a statement, according to USA Today. “The substitute teacher who committed this heinous act has been arrested and will face serious legal consequences.”
Tiffani Lankford was fired immediately after this assault and according to yahoo more charges are headed her way after being formally charged with aggravated assault.
Per CBS Austin,
no record of prior criminal charges or arrest for Lankford. But we did find a civil domestic violence case and temporary protective order filed against Lankford in Baltimore in 2014. A judge dismissed that case and protective order less than two weeks later.
