Well into the season the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis are one of the top teams in all of basketball, a year removed from Anthony Davis forcing his way out of New Orleans with the aid of super agent Rich Paul.
Anthony Davis got his wish to become a Laker, but what actually led to him making the decision to publicly ask the organization that drafted him, to trade him to team within their own conference? In a recent interview with GQ Magazine Rich Paul attempted to clear the air by offering an inside look into the mind of Anthony Davis in hopes that people will understand why it was time for Davis to move on from the Pelicans.
“From AD’s perspective, he just felt it was time for a change. There’s nothing wrong with that. As a player, the side people don’t see is like, okay yeah, i can go out and score 40 every night, but I cant make you put certain things around me because I don’t have that power. I have to bet on you to do so. And in the event that I’m good enough that, if I feel that’s not happening, and I can change something? Then I’ll change it. Or ill seek to change it.”
The Lakers are currently tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record in the NBA at 24-4, Anthony Davis is clear favorite for DPOY as well as in the conversation at the moment for League MVP honors so it looks like the move has paid immediate dividends.
