On Black Monday teams that have under performed are usually making head lines moments after their week 17 game.
In this case, the New York Giants who were defeated by the NFC East Champion Philadelphia Eagles yesterday have decided to turn the page on their now former head coach Pat Shurmur.
ESPN football insider Adam Schefter just tweeted out,
” Giants are firing HC Pat Shurmur, per source. Another HC search for the Giants, their third in five years”
Shurmur, who went a pathetic 9-23 in just two seasons becomes another free agent looking for work.
It remains to be seen who will fill the void in New York. The Giants have a rookie QB taking over the realm after veteran Eli Manning looks to hang up the cleats after playing over 15 seasons in the NFL.
This is the second head coach within the last several days to be relieved of their duties within the same division. Potentially there will be three new head coaches within the NFC East after its being rumored Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett will be relieved of his duties as well after his contract expires January 14th.
