The “marriage” between Ditka, the Saints, and Heisman Trophy winner Williams was met with a wave of controversy.

Williams and Ditka commemorated the historic selection during an ESPN The Magazine photoshoot.

Williams, in a wedding dress, Ditka in tuxedo, posed for the controversial cover leading to massive media coverage.

Williams went on the critically acclaimed Untold Stories hosted by Master Tesfatsion and told the story of how the infamous cover came to be.

The Texas Longhorn legend says that ESPN personality Dan Le Batard, who was a close friend at the time, put Williams up to it.
