When you think of scratch-offs, you think of dreams coming true or you think what a waste of money that is. While some may be blessed with luck as they win money, sometimes the bigger pot is worth it. Knicks fan Anthony Peterson won $1,000 in scratch-offs the other night while attending a Knicks game after nailing that half-court shot. Many people said, “Why don’t they just give him the $1,000 instead?”
A few years ago, my mom won the exact contest after she dialed in at a local NYC radio station. It was my dad, her, and me, on the kitchen table – scratching our lives away. She received $600 worth of tickets and won only $50.
Anthony Peterson had a similar experience, except he won more than my mom did. After scratching about 200 tickets, he won $500 and it just brings it back to the original thought, “Why not just give the people the original amount spent?” Because partnerships and sponsorship – super simple.

“Well, when they said scratch-offs I instantly got a headache because I was going to have to scratch them all off,” Peterson told The Action Network. “I thought about who I could hire to do it for me, but then figured they might want some of the money, so I negated that idea. I was sort of like, ‘What the f–k man? Some dude just won $100,000 doing the same s–t in L.A. and I get some bum ass lottery tickets.’ Still a blessing though.”
Half-court shots have to be worth a little more.
However, this story took an amazing turn as a person on Twitter by the name of @MrBeastYT, gave Peterson $10,000 for making the half-court shot. I wonder if he’s still feeling charitable for this New Yorker.
$1k in scratch off tickets? Tell this man to dm me and I’ll send him $10,000 for hitting that shot 👏

Giving scratch-offs for Christmas has also turned insanely popular. Just a word of advice – skip it and buy them sweater.
The Knicks face the Phoenix Suns tomorrow night.
