Following a win, which placed him in the semi-finals at the Australian open against Roger Federer, for his 50th meeting, Novak Djokovic spoke briefly at Center court about the influence the late Kobe Bryant had on his life.
Novak told John McEnroe,
“he was there for me; When I needed some advice and some support, he was there for me”
Djokovic who visibly was shaken by the details on Kobe’s death further mentioned his daughter Gigi, who suddenly lost her life as well during the Helicopter crash.
He told McEnroe that Kobe was his mentor and his friend.
Novak who sported a green Lacoste jacket had the initials of “K… B…. 24…8…” Imprinted on his jacket showing his tribute and playing for Kobe.
One thing for sure is that Kobe had a generational impact on everyone.
