Conor McGregor who has a bout with fellow UFC star Donald ” Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246 this weekend spoke Thursday about his future plans and potential opponents that’s on his radar for obviously his next big payday.
McGregor told reporters,
“I would love to be the first combatant to fight at that arena; What a fight that would be against Manny. A small powerful southpaw. I’d have to figure out the weight and these things. But something that interests me, no doubt”
The Las Vegas Raiders billion dollar stadium is scheduled to open this July, and with both Manny and McGregor rumored to be in negotiations on a potential deal, a date could be looming soon.
Conor who hasn’t fought since 2018, which was a loss to Nurmagomedov, and faced several court appearances due to legal woes, says he is trying to maintain discipline, fight at least 2-3 times a year, and last but not least, expressed his goal of becoming world champion in boxing.
McGregor further stated during the press conference,
” I’ve gone right to the top; I did do well, I won rounds. I hit Mayweather more times than anyone; I hit him more times than Manny hit him. I feel like I could fight against anyone.”
Whether you believe the Irishman could stand a chance in the ring against a rejuvenated Manny Pacquiao makes the thought alone interesting.
Manny in the last several fights notably against former undefeated champ Keith Thurman looked like that Manny of old where critics thought he might have been taking “roids”.
Regardless, it sounds as if this fight will indeed become finalized soon and with both fighter on the outside of their primes, both could certainly receive a huge payday from pay per view sales alone. Pacman, McGregor, in Vegas….. It’s obviously a money grab.
