Why If You Didn’t Believe The Titans Could Make It to The Super Bowl, You Should Now (Videos)

So uh….what just happened?

The Titans went on the road to Baltimore, beat the Ravens at their own game, and are now 1 win away from reaching the Super Bowl.

If you told me the Titans were going to be in this position after their humiliating loss in Denver, I would’ve slapped you and call you a complete lunatic.

The Titans’ defense held the Ravens to only 12 points on offense, Derrick Henry dominated again, let’s just talk about it.

Titans Start Out Fast On Offense, Force Lamar Jackson Into Tough Spots Early On

I’m sure no one expected Lamar Jackson to struggle like he did in the first half.

The zone read runs, that looked almost unstoppable during the regular season, were suddenly sniffed out and stopped in their tracks.

The tight ends, that Lamar Jackson LOVES throwing to in the passing game, were mysteriously quiet as the first half rolled on.

It was an unfamiliar feeling for the Ravens, and plenty around the country, as we’ve been so used to seeing this Ravens offense rip off explosive play after explosive play.

It just goes to show you the job Mike Vrabel and Dean Pees did throughout the week, hammering the basics of contain and discipline when tackling, into the heads of the Titans’ defense.

However, all the teaching and preaching won’t mean much if your team can’t execute, so a lot of credit goes to all 11 guys on that defense.

They stood up to the challenge, took the challenge and stomped on it, then watched as it withered all away.

Lot of action going on there, hope you kept up.

As for the Titans’ offense, the passing game stepped up big time, forcing the Ravens to stay honest in their commitment to stopping the run.

We start out with Jonnu Smith, who during the week, was discussed as a guy who could make a big impact against the Ravens’ group of linebackers.

Smith didn’t come onto the scene with some boring chunk reception, nor did he open eyes with a semi exciting carry out of the backfield, no, Jonnu Smith made a splash play you wouldn’t even recklessly bet money on him making.

How about a one handed juggling touchdown catch, while getting your cheek down in bounds?

Yes, the cheek that’s attached to your rear end.

Later, after a huge 4th down stop, the Titans dialed up the good ole shot play.

Henry’s influence in the run game causes Earl Thomas to scram to the box, Kalif Raymond ran an absolute disgusting route on ultra talented Marlon Humphrey, and Ryan Tannehill dropped a beauty of a ball.

What does that turn into?

A celebration in the end zone.

Sounds pretty simple to me.

Titans Completely Dominate The Second Half

Once the 2nd half hit, the Titans hit the gas, and never looked back.

It all began with Derrick Henry busting a 66 yard run, even throwing a little stiff arm on Earl Thomas down the field.

Who else would you expect to cap off this drive?

None other than Derrick Henry, but not as a ball carrier, but a passer.

Wrinkles!

A Tim Tebow jump pass by your RUNNING BACK on a goal to go in a playoff game, Arthur Smith you have some GUTS.

Later, Jurrell Casey gave the Titans another chance to work on offense, sacking Lamar Jackson and poking the ball free.

Ryan Tannehill then added a touchdown of his own, putting the Ravens in some deeeeeep trouble.

Ultimately, the Titans rode Derrick Henry down the stretch, along with creating a few turnovers on defense, to secure a monstrous upset win in Baltimore.

Henry finished with 195 yards on 30 carries, becoming the first player since the NFL-AFL merger to run for 180 or more yards in 3 straight games.

Absolute domination.

I didn’t even mention how huge the Titans’ 3 fourth down stops were? They absolutely changed the course of the game.

If you didn’t believe the Titans had a single shot of getting this close to the Super Bowl, boy were you wrong.

This team is riding high with arguably the best running back in the league, and a quarterback that’s playing an an extremely high level, even though the numbers might not show it.

All in all, we’re stuck with this fact.

For the first time in 18 years, the Tennessee Titans are heading to the AFC Championship game.

You think Derrick Henry is excited about that?

What about Tajae Sharpe?

This team is loose and their confidence is sky high, beating this football team will be an absolute challenge, for whatever teams ends up playing the Titans in the rest of this tournament.
