Kobe Bryant the gangster rapper? Sounds weird right? According to LL Cool J, it almost happened.
Most remember Kobe’s brief stint as a rapper. He recorded an album released the single K.O.B.E in 1999, did a song with Destiny’s Child, and even performed at NBA Allstar Saturday Night with Tyra Banks.
However, the album that Kobe released wasn’t the original album says LL who sat down with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier to talk about Kobe and his rap career.
“We talked about rap. He played me this album, this gangsta rap album, and I was like, ‘Kobe,’ I said, ‘Come on dog. That’s not what you need to be doing [laughs].’ He had a gangster rap album. He played me that album, we’re sitting in a parking lot. I was confused, I was sittin’ there like, ‘What are we doing? You got endorsements, what are you doing?’
“It had to be the funniest moment of my life, listening to him do gangster rap.”
LL might have saved Kobe from something really embarrassing because picturing him as a gangster rapper is just making me laugh.
