Rowan Baxter, a former rugby player in the National Rugby League committed a tragic act that not only claimed his own life, but the lives of his wife, and three children.
Law enforcement officials believe Rowan Baxter used poured gasoline around, and on members of his family before setting their vehicle ablaze from the inside. All 5 occupants were killed in what is being called a murder-suicide, witnesses of the horrific incident saw Rowan’s wife Hannah Baxter attempting to escape while confirming Rowan had doused her with gasoline.
The cause of their split is unclear, but Rowan Baxter and his wife Hannah had been separated for over a year and were allegedly in the midst of establishing custody stipulations for their 3 children ages 6,4 and 3. So far the police have not confirmed whether or not this played a role in the events that unfolded and led to the deaths of 4 people at the hands of Rowan Baxter.
One person who tried to help the family escape from the burning vehicle unsuccessfully was taken to the hospital and treated for burns, Hannah Baxter was also taken to an area hospital where she later died from the injuries sustained in the fire.
