Monday evening Cedar Rapids authorities were sent to a home where they were responding to a 911 call that dealt with a man known as Robert Lee Noye holding a woman and her child hostage.
What was the reason? The 37 year old woman claims Noye forced her and her 12 year old daughter to watch Roots, “to better understand her racism”.
She also claims he made threats towards her that if she moved he would kill her and spread her body parts across Interstate 380 according to the NY Post.
What is the award winning TV show Roots importance? Roots was based on a the lives of slaves and the oppression slaves dealt with for many decades.
The 37 year old woman was allegedly able to get to a nearby phone and dial 911, in which she then left the phone so police could eventually track down the phone call and hear her and her child being in distressed from watching the Roots miniseries.
According to NBC news once police authorities arrived on scene they found an intoxicated Noye inside with both individuals.
Robert Noye was eventually arrested and charged with false imprisonment, and harassment but as of Tuesday evening Noye was not listed as a inmate at a nearby Linn county jail in Iowa.
