Hall of Famer Jerry Rice along with other former San Francisco 49er players successfully lobbied President Trump for a Pardon for former 49ers GM Eddie Debartolo Jr Tuesday. They were seeking exoneration for DeBartolo pleading guilty in 1998 for failing to report a felony in a bribery case, which led to former Louisiana Gov. Edwin W. Edwards being imprisoned and ordered DeBartolo to pay a $1 million dollar fine.
“We talked about just being great. You know, trying to be the greatest of all time. And you know, I take my hat off for Donald Trump and what he did,” says Rice about the President.
It should be noted that there are a plethora of other more pressing cases that could’ve garnered the President’s attention, but this seems to be a low-hanging fruit that should score him some points within the NFL community after there past of battles.
