UFC champ Jon Jones was arrested last week in New Mexico and faces charges of aggravated DWI, negligent use of a firearm, possession of an open container, and no proof of insurance.
Details of his arrest are starting to come out after the two officers who responded to the scene, Jason Brown and Brian Johnson, tell what happened according to MMA Junkie.
The officers reportedly heard gunshots and then responded. After they get to the scene, officer Brown approached the car and saw a bottle of Recuerdo tequila and a green leafy substance on his shirt and pants and assumed it was marijuana.
They then requested his insurance and he stumbled to find it and eventually couldn’t find it. They also noticed an alcohol smell coming from his facial area. Officer Johnson was then requested and placed Jones under arrest after he couldn’t pass the field sobriety test they gave him. Then a loaded gun was found under the driver’s seat.
Jones is due back in court on April 8th.
