Did the creators of the movie Space Jam know something that we didn’t back in 1996 about the NBA season being canceled due to an unknown virus sweeping the world?
You may recall, that in the movie Space Jam starring Michael Jordan and many other NBA players, a strange virus from 3,000 miles away caused the NBA season to be stopped in its tracks.
The short scene features the commissioner of the NBA announcing to the press the decision to cancel the rest of the NBA season before abruptly walking away under heavy duress from frenzied reporters.
Fast forward to March 2020, Adam Silver, with the help of the NBA’s Board of Governors decided to postpone games until further notice after testing revealed both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell being identified as positive carriers of CVOID-19.
With much uncertainty around the world and in particular the remainder of the NBA season, this unassuming scene in Space Jam over 20 years ago is now a reality.
