Paul Zwier, a professor at Emory University is either extremely lucky or has a few friends over in HR, after serving his second suspension for using racial slurs in front of students he will be reinstated once more.
Back in 2018, Paul Zwier was hit with two suspensions after dropping an N-bomb twice in the same lecture centered around a court case based in 1967, Zwier claimed at the time it was only said as part of the day’s lesson.
Despite his transgressions, the law school plans to stand behind their man Paul Zwier and allow him to reassume his position as a professor on the campus.
In regards to Paul Zwiers return here’s what the dean of the Emory University had to say:
“The N-word carries with it the potential for harm, including the disruption or destruction of an inclusive learning environment for students, whatever the motivation of the speaker.” No words are banned at Emory, but those such as the one in question must be uttered only for a clear pedagogical reason.
Supporters of Paul Zwier contend that his use of the N-word in this instance was not racially motivated, but in fact relevant to the topic being discussed, therefore not as bad as it seems.
